  • My friends at Bongo Boy asked me to give a listen and share my thoughts about two singles they are about to release from Joey Evans.
First up is titled "Hail Will Fall"(release date November 7) and is the more sedate of the two tracks. There are no massive power chords to smack the listener in the face, but Joey's haunting vocals do make an impact. I can tell the band is grooving and genuinely having fun on this track. I really like the bass guitar, it is just so funky. The synthesizer solo in lieu of a classic guitar solo strikes me as something the Cure would have done. I really like the Cure and as I listen again I find myself wondering if that is a Robert Smith influence I hear in his voice? There is no question this is a band that can play well, and Joey has a good voice. Overall, I find that I really like this song.      - The Grouch
  • The second single is "Light Is a Wave" which will be released on January 9 2018. Right after cuing up this track I had that big goofy grin on my face that I always get when I hear something I like. I felt like I was transported back to 1982 and 1982 was an excellent year! I dig the echoing vocals and the heavy metal power chords have Aldo Nova written all over them. I swear I hear a Bryan Adams groove laid down by the drummer. When the guitar opens up I am reminded of Jon BonJovi back when he was opening for the Scorpions.  Simply put, this is really good Power Pop. There is enough loudness here to get the boys rocking and enough melody to make their girlfriends squeal with delight as Joey undoubtedly bounces around the stage. The fact that his voice is good, and his band can play only adds to the equation. Give this song a listen and see if you agree.

What is the bottom line? Joey has delivered a one two punch with the release of both of these singles.  Based on what I have heard, I would love to see Joey live. Nice work Joey, well done.     - The Grouch

  • OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO  HAIL WILL FALL by Joey Evans

  • As the song and video progress, the verse is bolstered with the addition of backing vocals as overlapping images fade in showing the two singing in harmony. One of the most intriguing aspects of the video are the unique transitions from each shot. Stunning views of the beach and the band members transition to eerily lit indoor shots of the bassist as the group rocks out in an instrumental section. With easy to remember melodies and top-notch filming, the video for “Hail Will Fall” will leave a lasting impression on any viewer it graces.

  • Joey Evans is making a strong start with the high quality production of his music and videos. “Hail Will Fall” leaves more to look forward to from his album ‘Azimuthal Equidistant’ and future releases. Make sure to keep an eye out for his new release coming this December. - Music Video Review by Bryon Williams
